Chairman Mao Memorial Hall

Chairman Mao is one of the 20th century’s most famous leader in Chinese history. Most Chinese believe that although he made some mistakes in his later life,he still had a very good place in the hearts of its people all over China. Even the government now accepts that he had his faults, but he’s still well respected.
He died in 1976 and his body is now kept on public display in his mausoleum at the south end of Tiananmen Square. The mausoleum is a plain grey concrete building. The whole experience visiting his body takes a few minutes, although you have to queue for some longer time with so many domestic tourists coming from all over the nation.
There is no entrance fee, even for tourists. Bags and cameras are not allowed to be taken in.Particularly popular with Chinese local visitors are bunches of flowers they buy at the entrance and then lay at a memorial.
